Bryan Barnett was a conscientious land steward, avid hunter and angler until his premature death from cancer in 1995. Bryan worked for the Forest Service out of the Manistique District Office for many years, and was well-respected in the community. Bryan was a catalyst in the construction of the fishing pier at Camp 7 Lake Campground in Delta County and after his death, his friends and coworkers felt a fishing pier at Colwell Lake would not only be a fitting tribute to his contributions, but would benefit area anglers, young and old alike, in the same manner as the fishing pier at Camp 7 Lake.
