The Thompson Fish Hatchery is located about eight miles west of Manistique on County Road 149. It is one of six hatcheries operated by the Fisheries Division of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and is open for tours. Most of the hatchery's annual production is cold water species planted in Upper Peninsula waters.

Open at no charge to the public. Tours and visitor center are self-guided and open daily, 7:30 am to 3:30 pm. Buildings are locked after 3:30 pm, but visitors are still welcome to self-tour outside. To schedule group tours, please call 906-341-5587 (extension 201).
